Trusted by Halco tackle to take them to the best fishing spots, Mandalay required 2x new engines to provide reliable and fuel efficient cruising to allow the owner to access and enjoy the Abrolhos and Montebello islands from Perth.
The decision was made to repower with 2x FPT NEF 450 (450Hp @ 3000rpm) marine engines. These engines have transformed this
vessel into a very effective long range cruiser providing very economical fuel consumption cruise speeds due to the new common rail technology of the NEF 450.

I installed the NEF 450’s in Mandalay in October 2010. I have nothing but praise for these motors. Gone are the days of smoke stained transoms and dirty exhaust, in fact after an Abrolhos trip (including at least 50 hours of trolling) the transom hardly needs a clean. They are quiet, easy to work on and have been virtually trouble free for the 1200 hours I have clocked up. The fuel economy is impressive which is a major factor when on longer trips up the WA coast. At THT you are dealing with a family company which means they are always contactable if you need them. And to have a full mechanical workshop facility in Geraldton – that’s priceless.
